The John McAteer Folk Stage is part of MIDSUMMER MIDDLEWICH, a brand new Summer Festival for the town of Middlewich in Cheshire. The JMFS has its roots in the old Middlewich Folk & Boat Festival which ran from 1990 until 2025. John McAteer was one of the pioneers of the original FAB Festival and was the man responsible for getting the finance together for the first event, as well as persuading everyone of just how beneficial such a Festival would be for a town like ours. The Folk Stage was founded in 2024 but is only now coming into its own with the help of enthusiastic folkies from the Middlewich area and further afield.

La Fête de la musique is an event that takes place each year in France since 1982, to celebrate music and music makers! Join us for a concert of musician Emma Martin presented by Live Music Now Scotland and Institut François d’Écosse. The concert will be followed by a karaoke : come and sing along to your favorite French songs!
Emma Martin is an award-winning community musician, folk singer and storyteller based in Glasgow. An accomplished songwriter, Emma won the Hands up for Trad Scots songwriting competition and was the recipient of a S.W.L.M.’s Making Waves award in 2021.
Since joining Live Music Now Scotland as an Artist in 2022, Emma has further developed their specialism in community music. Their dedication to music’s ability to create connection has led to residencies across Scotland, from The Yard to Queen Elizabeth Hospital’s Spinal Unit. A two-year project funded by the Paul Hamlyn Foundation saw Emma leading residencies at Girvan and Invergarven schools, bringing music to children and young people with additional support needs.
Emma’s belief in the universality of music extends to all ages. They’ve led songwriting workshops for Live Music Now Scotland musicians, and have performed as soloist across the country, including performances at the Pianodrome, the Scottish Storytelling Centre and Celtic Connections. Emma is passionate about empowering others, helping them find independence, autonomy and enjoyment through the power of music.
Please note the concert and karaoke will be standing.
