We celebrate Windrush Day with a Carribean twist on our immersive cypher session 📣📣📣

Featuring… The dancehall and reggae MC, Kirk Diamond + Live Soul, Hip Hop & Dub flavours of Murk FM + A cypher open to ALL MCs and toasters + Live beats from Ohno da French AND special guest host… the mighty UK Principal Roots

We HYPED to reunite Kirk Diamond, the Principal, And What? and Brixton 📣 Our last meeting was on a rainy October evening outside Brixton Library, on a booming RDK HIFI soundsystem, surrounded by scores of hungry MCs and revellers. Watch one of the highlights here >>

Kirk Diamond, one of the baddest MCs to touch our mic heads up this event! Born in Jamaica, he currently resides in Toronto, as part of his busy touring schedule he freestyled for Seani B’s show on BBC Radio 1Xtra, as well as winning a Juno Award for Reggae Recording of the Year. This reunion has been long awaited!

Joining him will be our special guest host, the legendary UK Principal Roots. His flows over Reggae, Hip Hop and Jungle can not be beat and is a long time favourite of ours.

The Principal joins our regular hosts, the bus-King Absent Minded Poetics and South London by way of Florida MC, IsaacB as master of ceremonies..

Murk FM, jam out their live blend of Neo Soul & Hip Hop, headed up by Absent Minded Poetics and we’ll have some live remixed and reconstructed soul, funk and Brazilian music form Ohno da French!

Rise of the MC is an event that showcases the art of MCing. Freestyle rhyming, vocal improvisation and jamming are an intrinsic part of our events and we try to represent the roots of Hip Hop culture as well as the modern form as often possible.
