Gaby Duboisjoli grew up steeped in music and performance thanks to her parents’ career as cancan soloists at the Moulin Rouge in Paris. Piano lessons and soloing in the choir throughout childhood at her regional conservatoire expanded her universe outward from cabaret and showbiz, and her love of music now spans all genres, with a particular penchant for jazz, funk, soul and blues. Moving to London from a rural French village at the young age of 17 saw the explosion of music, art and opportunities that she had always dreamed of, and she has been singing ever since.
She loves taking centre stage and playing with the audience as a front woman, and equally relishes singing in a group and blending harmonies to achieve great musicality. Previously a member of gospel choir Enchorus, a cappella group The Chromotones and lead singer at Sunday Assembly’s mass sing-alongs, she now leads original “hard groove” band London Beat Club and is a backing singer for funk and soul function band Frank the Cat, led by Roy Gayle of Hot Gossip fame.
As much as she loves the excitement and theatrics of live performance she enjoys the precision and power of a great recording session in the studio. You can hear her on singles released by her band London Beat Club, and alt-rock artist Column:Inches. Upcoming techno pieces by Zivonyx are currently being mastered.
