Musicians Coronavirus Action Ilkley is organising a synchronised event for volunteer musicians to perform outdoors at as many local Care Homes and other housing facilities for elderly people as possible on Make Music Day.
They will serenade residents from 2pm on Sunday 21st June with guitar, flutes, oboe, banjo, string quartet, harp, saxophone, clarinet, trumpet, trombone and song.
We hope to bring a bit of cheer to care home residents who have been through so much during the coronavirus pandemic.
Note: this event is not a virtual one. Small groups or solo performers will actually be singing and playing in real life to real people – at a safe distance of course.
But for those of you who won’t be there to see and hear our performances in person, nine of us have got together virtually to perform Bring Me Sunshine for you. It’s a unique line up – female and male vocals, keyboard, two banjos, washboard, violin, cello, oboe, soprano sax, clarinet and trombone!
You can watch it on YouTube by using this link https://youtu.be/vQPHU4a9PHo
