Ever wanted to sit down and play the music from some of your favourite video games? Want to swap out your scales and arpeggios for some Mario instead?
As part of Make Music Day 2019, the Irish Video Game Orchestra are celebrating the joy of playing music by inviting musicians to join us and play along with a variety of pieces from video games and anime, such as music from the Super Mario series, arrangements from the world of Studio Ghibliand Pokémon, as well as much, much more.
There’s no catch – just dust down whatever musical instrument you play, bring it along and have fun playing some great tunes with the orchestra!
Make Music Day is an annual set of free music events taking place in venues and public spaces – from town squares to libraries, bandstands to school halls and arts centres. For more information, check out makemusicday.co.uk
Is the event free?
This is a free event, all you need to do is sign up – however we do welcome any voluntary contributions you may have on the day, as we are a non-profit organisation!
Is this a performance?
This isn’t a performance – just an open rehearsal! Check out our Facebookfor more details about upcoming gigs.
Is there a minimum age requirement to take part?
The event is ideally for those who are 14+ and are at a Grade IV standard. If you are under 18, you must be accompanied by an adult to the rehearsal. Asides this – we welcome all ages and want you to come to play, even if you haven’t picked up your instrument in a while!
What do I need to bring into the rehearsal?
All you need to bring is your instrument and a stand if possible – we’ll provide the music and the craic! We unfortunately can’t provide any instruments on the evening.
This date doesn’t suit, but I would love to play with you…
