Magnus Turpie plays B/C button accordion. He has Down’s Syndrome.
Currently he attends a ‘Day Service’ at Upward Mobility, Edinburgh.
From a standing start at SMO course in 2013 he has learned to play an eclectic repertoire special ‘tab’ notation to access the written music.
He has also composed the very popular “Magnus’s Polka” (PRS) which is delivered in workshops across the UK, and beyond.
Magnus has been a regular performer at the Edinburgh Argyll Association, Comunn Tir nam Bean Dun Eideann, Syn Festival, Newtongrange Box and Fiddle Club, Girvan Folk Festival and local folk sessions.
Magnus also plays guitar, ukulele, fiddle & snare drum and dabbles in trombone.
He is a member of Lung Ha Theatre Company and has recently been on-stage at Edinburgh Traverse and St Andrews Byre theatres
