Welcome to our dedicated and specially curated broadcast of unique performances, workshops and talks from Make Music Day UK ambassadors and partners on 21 June! Don’t miss 12 hours of music across the solstice.

– take part in a singing lesson with Welsh soprano Elin Manahan Thomas

– folk tales from former BBC Radio 2 Folk Musician Of The Year Sam Sweeney

– BBC Radio 1’s Arielle Free will put us in the party mood with one of her legendary DJ sets

– live sets from alt folk duo Wilswood Buoys, Spanish-Latin guitar duo De Fuego, songwriter and award nominated artist Emma McGann and indie band Small Screen plus a showcase of music from Plugged, Renegade Picnic and the National Youth Folk Ensemble

– Jack Suddaby interviews Gio Arlotta about 70s Zambian rock band W.I.T.C.H, the subject of his film ‘We Intend to Cause Havoc’

– an introduction to Indian Takeaway: Rāg and Tāl basics with Indian music specialist Yogesh Dattani in partnership with the ISM Trust

– performances from Glasgow musicians as part of UNESCO Musical Cities programme in partnership with Glasgow Life featuring Georgia Cécile and Fraser Urquhart, Herschel 36 and Kinnaris Quintet

Hamish Napier will team up with Su-a Lee performing in the Scottish Highlands, plus the premiere of the Auld Lang Syne participation project

– young ambassadors from North Yorkshire’s youth music development charity NYMAZ will produce Rural Fest – live streamed performances and workshops from Yorkshire-based musicians

– a special edition of the hugely popular Sofa Singers online singing event bringing together hundreds of people from around the world in real-time to sing ‘Easy’ by Lionel Richie’s band, Commodores

– a Making Music showcase, shining a spotlight on leisure-time music groups across the UK

– exploration of South London’s musical landscape with Musicity who will showcase architecture-inspired music in partnership with Team London Bridge and Diaphonique as part of the London Festival of Architecture, featuring London-based French artists Clémentine March and Neue Grafik

– Northern Ireland’s Beyond Skin who use music, arts and new media to bridge cultural divides will showcase a plethora of multicultural collaborations and performances from artists as from across Northern Ireland, USA, Palestine and Japan

– learn how to sing Global Song Circle’s June song – Thina Singumlilo Ovuthayo, as part of Global Days of Unity, also celebrated on 21 June.

– premiere of Rebels with a Cause – a cross-border online project from Amateo, bringing together young film makers and musicians from Lithuania, the Netherlands, Slovenia, Belgium, Slovakia, Greece and the UK
