An Afternoon with Strings

Ukulele's and Violins Playing Music to Make you Smile.

The Happy Strummers Ukulele band formed as a result of a grant given to MHA Selly Oak Live at Home Scheme by Music for All The group have been together since February and this will be their first public performance. None of the players had ever picked up a ukulele before February and now they have a collection of songs they can share with an audience. Do come and listen to them, who knows you may like it so much you decide to have a few lessons with our next group of ukulele learners!

Austin Rowlands, a violinist who played with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra for 26 years will also be performing at our Afternoon of Strings. Austin first played the violin when he was 7 years old and has been playing ever since. Austin has played with the Halle Orchestra in Manchester and the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra. Austin will be playing a collection of songs from music halls, musicals, movies, popular and classical. Definitely something for everyone!
