Make Music Day 2019 – Norfolk network event
You are invited to join King’s Lynn Festival, Norfolk Music Education Hub and representatives from Make Music Day UK on Monday 21 January in King’s Lynn to hear about Make Music Day 2019. We’re looking to gather together a range of musicians, music groups, arts organisations, venues, businesses – anyone interested in turning Make Music Day into something huge in Norfolk! On 21 January, there will be an opportunity to hear about Make Music Day and plans for 2019, discuss ways to get involved, network and form partnerships.
Make Music Day takes place across the globe on 21 June annually. Started in France in 1982 as Fête de la Musique, this celebration of music now takes place in over 120 countries on the summer solstice. It is a DIY festival of music and anyone can perform or organise an event. Events take place in venues and public spaces – from town squares to libraries, bandstands to school halls, pubs to train stations – all are free to attend.
On 21 June 2018 over 500 free performances took place across the UK, reaching audiences of almost 50,000 people. 91 performances took place in Norfolk in libraries, schools, town centres, museums, hospitals and arts centres. Check out the MMD website for images and video from this summer. Download the 2018 evaluation report here.
