Periscopi Invertit

World music. Catalan folk fused with funk/latin/jazz and North African rhythms

Periscopi Invertit (Reversed Periscope) mix Catalan folk melodies with North African rhythms and jazzy vibes and explores how old folk melodies can fuse with funk/latin/jazz arrangements and keep their connection with some Mediterranean sounds and grooves. The music is as well inspired by the legacy of “Ona Laietana” Barcelona’s underground music bands from the 70’s.

Periscopi Invertit is a multicultural band lead by Mireia Carbonell who graduated as a bass player at Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya in Barcelona , Catalonia. Mireia performed in several UK music festivals like Africa Oyé, Journeys Festival, London African Music Festival, The big Feastival, Rising sounds Festival, etc and now she decided to start her own band Periscopi Invertit formed by the amazing musicians Yaz Fentazi (oud), Laura Guarch (singer), Karim Dellali (darbuka) and Tunde Lunan (keyboard).
