UK Launch Event
Last year over 500 performances took place in the UK – reaching audiences of 100,000 people
and this year it’s going to be bigger and better than ever before!
We would be delighted to invite you to join our media launch to give you more information
about how we will be animating public spaces as part of the biggest grassroots music festival in the world.
Make Music Day takes place across the globe on 21 June annually. Started in France in 1982 as Fête de la Musique, this celebration of music now takes place in over 120 countries on the summer solstice. It is a DIY festival of music and anyone can perform or organise an event. Events take place in venues and public spaces – from town squares to libraries, bandstands to school halls, pubs to train stations – all are free to attend. On 21 June 2018 over 500 free performances took place across the UK, reaching audiences of 100,000 people live and online. www.makemusicday.co.uk
The drinks reception will be followed by Music in Office’s event at 7pm – Connect, Collaborate, Create!
Join Music in Offices in exploring the social impact of music making and the role music plays in society. Featuring a Come and Sing performance of Bob Chilcott’s ‘Little Jazz Mass’, A Streetwise Opera taster workshop and a round table discussion with Matt Peacock MBE (Streetwise Opera & With One Voice), Fiona Cunningham (Sistema England), Barbara Eifler (Co-Chair of Make Music Day UK), Ian Ritchie (Setúbal Music Festival) and Rachel Staunton (London Youth Choir).
Tickets for the concert can be booked here or from the venue on the night. If you would like to take part and sing in Bob Chilcott’s ‘Little Jazz Mass’, there is a rehearsal at 5pm and tickets can be booked here (for free singing tickets, enter code ‘MIOSinger’ when booking).
