As a valued supporter of Make Music Day, we are reaching out to you and hoping you might be able to offer us a little support at a challenging time for the event.
Since it started in the UK in 2017, Make Music Day has become a nationwide celebration that brings people from all backgrounds and communities together through their music. The success of the event has been made possible through the generous support of organisations like the NAMM Foundation, Creative Scotland, ABRSM and Arts Council England.
Unfortunately, our applications to Arts Council England for this year have been unsuccessful, leaving Make Music Day UK in a precarious financial position.
We’ve set our sights on the future, and we are working with our partners to establish broader support for Make Music Day 2024, but this will take time. In the short term, we find ourselves struggling to secure the resources necessary to maintain the high level of service that the event needs.
This financial hurdle is particularly untimely, following our most successful event to date, featuring an incredible 1,485 performances involving 36,743 talented performers. We firmly believe that Make Music Day is on a powerful upward trajectory, and with the right support, we can continue to develop the event, ensuring its sustained success.
Make Music Day has always been, and will always be, free for all to participate. However, with our current financial challenge, we’re reaching out to our community, asking for your support during this critical time. Your backing now can make a significant difference in safeguarding the future of Make Music Day in the UK.

Thank you,
