MAKE MUSIC DAY IN YOUR SCHOOL!
Make Music Day is taking place across the world on Monday 21 June in 125 countries.
As always, there are various ways that teachers, schools, young people, parents and carers can get involved and make some noise on Make Music Day!
TUNE INTO THE VIRTUAL BIG SING ON 21 JUNE
As part of the Durham Big Play, Durham Music will be presenting a live streamed Big Sing on 21 June, 11.00-11.40am. Musicians will lead a virtual sing-a-long of the songs featured on the Charanga platform. Register for the event here.
If you’re new to Charanga, simply start a 30-day complimentary trial to explore the platform in full. There’s no obligation to subscribe afterwards and they won’t take any payment details. In order to access the songs for the Durham Big Sing, you will need to sign-up for the 30 day trial if you are not already a Charanga member.
Whether you have your own event or not on Make Music Day, come and join thousands of children across this world through song! The event will be live streamed on YouTube.

ACCESS FREE MUSIC RESOURCES
Charanga is a world-leading music teaching and learning platform used in 62 countries. It hosts a vast library of songs and we’re delighted to offer some of these for free on Make Music Day.
Check out Joanna Mangona and Pete Readman’s popular song, Bringing Us Together, and a series of musical activities on their website to use and share freely with your pupils. You’ll find a listening track and some games to help students learn the song, as well as a glockenspiel part there that can be played on any instruments you have available in the classroom. Have fun!
SING THE MAKE MUSIC DAY ANTHEM
The new Make Music Day anthem for 2021 is Stand By Me kindly supported by Sony Music Publishing and Hal Leonard Europe. Free resources and arrangements of the song, including a range of different instruments, ensembles and choirs, are available here so that you can get practicing. Or create your own arrangement to premiere on Make Music Day. We’ll also be running a song competition for the best cover version of Stand by Me.
This Make Music Day, join Bash the Trash Environmental Arts in raising global awareness about household waste pollution by building fun instruments from found objects!
