MAKE MUSIC DAY IN YOUR SCHOOL!

Make Music Day takes place across the world on 21 June in 125 countries.

As always, there are various ways that teachers, schools, young people, parents and carers can get involved and make some noise on Make Music Day!

WHAT HAPPENED IN 2021…

THE VIRTUAL BIG SING ON 21 JUNE

As part of the Durham Big Play, Durham Music presented a live streamed Big Sing on 21 June 2021. Musicians led a virtual sing-a-long of the songs featured on the Charanga platform. Thousands of children across the world were joined in song!

MUSIC RESOURCES

Charanga is a world-leading music teaching and learning platform used in 62 countries. It hosts a vast library of songs and we were delighted to offer some of these for free on Make Music Day. If you’re new to Charanga, simply start a 30-day complimentary trial to explore the platform in full. There’s no obligation to subscribe afterwards and they won’t take any payment details.

SINGING THE MAKE MUSIC DAY ANTHEM

The Make Music Day anthem for 2021 was Stand By Me, kindly supported by Sony Music Publishing and Hal Leonard Europe. Free resources and arrangements of the song, including a range of different instruments, ensembles and choirs, were available in advance for practicing. Others created their own arrangement to premiere on Make Music Day, and we also be ran a song competition for the best cover version of Stand by Me.
